Party game
How to play this or that
This or that is a quick choice game for 2 or more players. One player reads two options, like pizza or burgers, and everyone picks one at the same moment; whoever is in the smaller group explains their choice. There is no winner. It works as an icebreaker, a car game and a game for couples.
- 2 or more players
- 10 to 20 min
- The app's questions are written for 12 and up
How to play
You need: a list of questions, or one phone.
- The reader reads both options out loud.
- Count to three. Everyone says their pick at once, or points left for the first and right for the second.
- The smaller side explains in one sentence. If it is a tie, everyone explains.
- The next player reads. Play ten questions or a whole category.
Rules
- Pick one. Both or neither is not an answer.
- Answer at the same moment, so nobody follows the crowd.
- No judging an answer, only arguing with it.
- The reader picks too.
Variants
- Couples round
- Each partner guesses the other's pick before saying their own. A point for every right guess.
- Walk the room
- One side of the room for each option; everyone walks to their pick. Good for classrooms and big groups.
- Majority wins
- Everyone on the bigger side scores a point; the player with the most points after ten questions wins.
Tips to play better
- Play a whole category at once: food, travel, superpowers or everyday life.
- Ask why on the close calls; those give the best conversations.
- Keep the pace fast. A question should take under a minute.
- Write a few questions about the group itself: two places you have all been, two movies you have all seen.
