Party game
How to play have you ever
Have you ever is a party question game for 3 or more players. One player reads a question that starts with have you ever, like have you ever slept through an alarm, and everyone who has done it raises a hand. Anyone who raised a hand can tell the story. It is the clean version of the game many people know as never have I ever: no drinking and nothing adult, so it works for friends, families and classrooms.
- 3 or more players
- 15 to 30 min
- The app's questions are written for 12 and up
How to play
You need: a list of questions, or one phone.
- Sit in a circle. The first reader picks a question and reads it out loud.
- Everyone who has done it raises a hand at the same time.
- Anyone with a hand up can tell the story behind it in a minute or less, or pass.
- The phone or the list goes to the next reader. Play as long as the stories keep coming.
Rules
- Answer honestly or pass; nobody has to explain a pass.
- Raise hands at the same moment, so nobody copies.
- The reader answers too.
- No questions aimed at one person in the room.
Variants
- Ten fingers
- Everyone starts with ten fingers up and folds one for each question they have done. The last player with a finger up wins.
- Stand up
- Everyone who has done it stands up instead of raising a hand. Good for big groups that need to move.
- Write your own
- Each player writes three questions on slips at the start and mixes them into the deck.
Tips to play better
- Start with mild questions so the group warms up before the bold ones.
- The best part is the story, not the hand. Ask one follow-up question.
- Mix silly questions with ones that bring out good memories.
- Keep it kind: skip any question that would single out one person.
